“I believe children and families thrive in any environment where they are seen, heard and valued.”
Callie is an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Doctoral Teaching Fellow currently pursuing her doctoral studies in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). She began her career as an early childhood educator in Chicago Public Schools (CPS), where she served students and families on the South Side as a full-day Pre-K teacher. Her professional experience spans coaching and teaching a cohort of Alternative Licensure Program students at UIC, serving as an early childhood instructional coach in Jefferson County Public Schools (Louisville, KY), and leading a team of OECE instructional support specialists embedded within network offices across Chicago Public Schools. She has also contributed as a research assistant at UIC, supporting the development of a culturally responsive early childhood curriculum as a consultant and writer, with a focus on family engagement for Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4, and Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classrooms nationwide.
Outside of her professional work, Callie enjoys family movie and game nights, listening to music, and making s’mores in the backyard with her husband, their two teenagers, and their new puppy.
