“Needing each other is not a weakness, it’s a strength. Our kids thrive when we ask for help and show up for one another.”
Kayla’s coworkers describe her as honest, supportive, and a leader.
Kayla oversees all of VOCEL’s programming and is proud of the joyful, connective, and play-based approach that each program embraces. Kayla works with VOCEL staff to ensure that programs bring interactive, inclusive, joyful, and accessible early childhood knowledge, strategies, and support to adults and children throughout Chicago.
Kayla comes from a social work and economic justice background and works to uplift existing power within communities. She holds a BA in International Development and Social Change from Clark University in Massachusetts and an MA in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago and brings her skills and focus on equity into her work with staff, families, and educators.
Outside of work, Kayla spends time with her partner and dog at their home or traveling and exploring. She also enjoys time with friends and family, the beach, and baking, gardening, and reading.
